Derek Cheatham, P.E.
Current Position
Vice President
1994-present
As Vice President of a small engineering company, I have continued to develop as a professional by taking new responsibilties and opportunities, such as developing the business skills required to assist in maintaining a successful engineering business including marketing, human resources, finance, and strategic business planning. In addition, I am still very active in civil engineering design and project management for many projects at Cheatham & Associates along with the roles and responsibilties of Vice President.
Upon obtaining my license in the State of Texas, my role and responsibilities with Cheatham & Associates continued to develop into a Project Manager position in 1999. I successfully completed many civil engineering projects as project manager. As a project manager my responsibilities included an active role in project design as well as developing proposals, project budgeting, coordination of the design team, client relations, client represenation at public meetings, and construction administration.
My engineering experience has primarily consisted of the design and analysis of water, sewer, paving and drainage facilities for both the public and private sector. However, the vast majority of my engineering experience has been in the public sector. I have civil engineering experience in many types of projects, most of which I was directly involved in through the entire project lifecycle. I have a very well rounded and diverse consulting civil engineering background.
